VT Redemption

to me, it looks like it is LSU and OSU...if we get in, i'll be pleasantly surprised, and we do have some arguments for and against us, but so does every team

- ACC champs
- beat one of the teams that beat us early on
- only team whose losses were to teams in the top 2 in the nation
- only one other team in top 10 has multiple wins over ranked opponents w/o losing to an unranked team
- played against 4 ranked teams
- SOS is exactly the same as those who are being considered with VT (LSU and USC)


but the negatives

- bad loss to LSU
- loss at home after leading most of the game to BC


so who knows...but i'm proud of the fact that only VT and USC have won 10+ games each of the last 4 years

If VT is considered for the NC I would quit watching football. A team who is ranked one spot ahead of them waxed the field with their behinds. No way VT is a National Championship caliber team. Granted, noone seems to want it this year though.


WE NEED A PLAYOFF, if this year doesn't prove that then they will never get it.

I agree a playoff needs to happen and fast.

According to all the Tennisshoe fans the SEC Championship game was played by the best 2 teams, since they think the Moonshiners deserved to be there. If the 8-4 team from Knockedoutville is the second best team in the SEC then how could the SEC POSSIBLY be the best in the country????????

Your ACC champ already was made to look like the sisters of the poor vs. the SEC champ...and BC would be clobbered by the 2nd best SEC team...need I go on ?

the SEC is the best football conference in the nation but any of the SEc teams could be beaten by VT OSU Hawaii Oklahoma depending on what team shows up

Take out Hawaii and you've at least got an argument.

How the hell is Kansas in this game anyway? They lose their final game of the year to MIZZOU and don't even make the Big 12 Championship game and also trail MIZZOU by 2 spots in the final BCS Rankins yet they get the at large bid over MIZZOU, this just shows of F'ed up the system really is. It should be VT vs Mizzou and not Kansas.

IMO Mizzou and Kansas are both overrated...well for that matter, so is VT.

I think both Mizzou and Kansas are both overated as well, but, if someone had to be there then I think Mizzou should have went over Kansas, hell they beat them head to head but I guess that doesn't mean anything to the BCS, it is what the computers say.

I think Arizona St. would have been a better selection...

i really think kansas gets absolutley rolled against tech, ive watched them play 3 times, and they played mediocre big 12 teams, played one tough game all year, a loss to mizzouri.

their biggest win was over at the time ranked kansas state, who isnt good either.

wvu wouldnt have beat tech either, too many mistakes.

i would have liked to see tech v. georgia, both teams match up talent wise.

I'd say it's a dogfight for VT in any of those games except UGA...and that is just a plain ol a$$ kickin..

ive seen every team in the bcs games play at least three times, and vt looks as good as everyone with the exception of LSU/USC/Oklahoma/tOSU/maybe UGA

im as big as an SEC homer as anyone, but tech has really turned it on.

i hate tech with a passion, but i know they are really improved, and glennon has felt the fire from taylor and played better.

i think the offense can def. be stopped, but they can stop almost anyone on defense, USC and LSU excluded.

but is that not the same defense that let a georgia come roaring back last year though...to tell you the truth i would have rather seen UGA play VT 110% more than this Hawaii team...they scare the hell out of me...is the sugar bowl played in the georgia dome or the superdome???if its in the GA dome then I may buy a ticket and head down to the ATL

I''m gonna be honest. TEch started out pitiful this season. After the game against ECU, I thought they''d be lucky to play in the ACC championship but they proved me wrong and then some. Just hope they don't' live up to the name that people have given them: the Chokies.

But I look for the HOkies to win the Orange Bowl but Kansas might play them tough.

I really don't think VT's defense is that great. Very good, but not great. I think they are vastly overrated due to their schedule. Their O has improved though and they are very good on special teams. They should beat Kansas.

alot of bad offenses in the ACC, thats for sure. I cant think of a good one right off hand. Clemson is probably the only team with a good, yet still inconistent offense.

but tech has peaked at the right team, much like ut, uga, usc.

Exactly. I was thinking like you, maybe its Clemson, but what about BC and Heisman Hopeful Matt Ryan? And, really that was a joke, and their offense is, well, offensive (and not in a good way).

IMO, without the weak schedule, VT is in the Emerald Nuts Bowl..lol

I'll be a Kansas fan for a day I reckon..lol...and as bad as I hate UT and Bama...I always pull for them in the bowls as well.

Hawaii doesnt need to get behind peoples safetys they do throw the ball deep some but most of their passes are in the 4-11 yard range

I think the wariors can beat any team in the nation a team that can throw the ball like that has the ability to put 65 points on anyone they might lose 66-65 or win 65-64 but have the ability to win their defense is weak so they just focus on creating turnovers

and I would rather see VT vs WVU or UGA

Wrong. LSU had 7. I wouldn't exactly want to throw ECU in there as one of those 6 either.

#11 BC...i'll take more wins over quality teams than one win over a good team and losses to bad teams anyday

my point still stands...if VT played a cupcake schedule, so did USC, LSU, etc.

LSU beat 5

and it goes back to the question, who did BC exactly beat to be considered good? Army, Umass, Bowling Green, and ND was the nonconference schedule.
